Steve Bryant

Steve Bryant and I were life partners from 1981-2002. During our 20 years together we were not only life partners, we also worked on many theater and film projects together, many of them in my company Sweet Corn Productions. We jointly created Partners Task Force for Gay and Lesbian Couples in 1986, and conducted the first major national study of same-sex couples in a decade. [Survey Report]

We first met in Boston when Steve came through town on a singing tour. The ideals and aspirations we held in common made for a very fast and deep bond. Steve cut his countrywide tour short to make a cross-country move with me for a new start in Seattle.

One of the activities Steve and I enjoy doing together was producing musical theater events. One such event, Voice of an Angel: A Castrato Remembers, was written by me and performed by Steve. It won “Best of the Week” at the 1986 Director’s Festival in Seattle. Below is a photograph from that show.
